Jen - your new fun creative copywriter.jpeg

Hi! I’m Jen, the wielder of the pen here at jen ne sais quoi.

I love words and I love using them to tell stories, emphasise a point, inspire, make things fun, convey personality and most of all - to connect with people and make them feel something! One of the best ways to do all of this in business is through brand storytelling.

If you’re seeking a creative thinker to tell your story via your website, Instagram captions, newsletters, press releases, email campaigns, blog ideas, articles or assist with editing - you’re in the right place.

I’m a creative, a lover of fun, and I’m passionate about people-first brands.

Before I became a copywriter, I earned my creative agency stripes with some of the big guns in Brisbane/meanjin’s advertising scene. As an Account Manager, I worked with clients including Weis Ice Cream, Tangalooma Island Resort, Sunsuper, and Pacific Fair Shopping Centre.

I was a fashion blogger back in the days of Alexander McQueen and Alexa Chung, the indie sleaze era of the 2010s, and as a self-confessed fangirl I’ve written live music reviews and artist profile pieces too!

I love learning about the people behind the work and why they do what they do. My belief is that finding and sharing your je ne sais quoi is the most powerful tool for connection.

My career foundations were built in the hospitality and retail worlds - so I already totally get it. Customer service is everything. I’ll look at your business through a customer lens, share strategic suggestions, and write my way into your audience’s heart.

Why is my copywriting business called ‘jen ne sais quoi’?
Great question!

No, I don’t speak French (yet).
But I do love this phrase!

Je ne sais quoi means ‘that little something’. A special quality you can’t quite put your finger on or easily define. You know when something is just a cut above the rest and you can’t really explain why, it just has…it?

That secret sauce that makes a burger tastier by a country mile, the clever eyeliner trick that makes someone’s eyes really pop, or the tingly feeling you get when the climax of a beautiful song is in sync with the most dazzling fireworks display you’ve ever seen? That’s exactly what I’m talking about!

The best people have it. And the best brands have it, too - it’s what keeps their customers coming back for more! I believe good copywriting should capture this. Businesses that do their thing with personality and je ne sais quoi? Old mate ChatGPT ain’t got nothin’ on that.

But don’t worry,  you don’t have to spell it or pronounce it correctly - just click all the links and leave the spelling to me!

Oh and yes the other reason - my name is Jen! I’m a writer, so naturally I love wordplay.

TL;DR - Jen ne sais quoi: The wow-factor that makes everything else seem hollow or boring by comparison. Let’s focus on the defining feature that makes your business special!
